This method applies to RHEL; let\u2019s first install the VNC Server.<\/p>\n

Through yum command<\/p>\n

# yum install tigervnc-server<\/p>\n

Or<\/p>\n

Through RPM command<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

First, locate and mount your RHEL 6.3 install media.<\/p>\n

[root@oraerp ~]# cd “\/media\/RHEL_6.3 x86_64 Disc 1\/Packages”<\/p>\n

[root@oraerp Packages]# pwd<\/p>\n

\/media\/RHEL_6.3 x86_64 Disc 1\/Packages<\/p>\n

Install following rpm packages<\/p>\n

rpm -ivh xorg-x11-fonts-misc-7.2-9.1.el6.noarch.rpm<\/p>\n

rpm \u2013ivh tigervnc-server-1.0.90-0.17.20110314svn4359.el6.x86_64.rpm<\/p>\n

Now lets edit the vncservers file to configure display<\/p>\n

\/etc\/sysconfig\/vncservers<\/p>\n

We can assign numbers to VNC for display like “:2” and “:3”.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

In vncservers file we will find “display:user” pairs as defined on a single line.<\/p>\n

VNCSERVERS=”2:root 3:oracle”<\/p>\n

VNCSERVERARGS[2]=”-geometry 800×600 -nolisten tcp -localhost”<\/p>\n

VNCSERVERARGS[3]=”-geometry 800×600″<\/p>\n

After this we will set the VNC password for users defined in the “\/etc\/sysconfig\/vncservers” file.<\/p>\n

# vncpasswd<\/p>\n

Password:<\/p>\n

Verify:<\/p>\n

#<\/p>\n

Lets switch to oracle user and set the password<\/p>\n

# su – oracle<\/p>\n

$ vncpasswd<\/p>\n

Password:<\/p>\n

Verify:<\/p>\n

$ exit<\/p>\n

logout<\/p>\n

#<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

After setting up password, will enable the “vncserver” service for autostart and then start the service.<\/p>\n

# chkconfig vncserver on<\/p>\n

# service vncserver start<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

Our setup is over \ud83d\ude42 now we can use a VNC viewer to connect to server by using the display numbers and passwords defined in our setup.<\/p>\n

Faced issue on Oracle Linux 6.4, after configuring vncserver properly was not able to connect…. after research were able to fix the issue…… here is what i did:<\/p>\n

Linux Firewall was stopping to connect so i just disabled through this command\u00a0service iptables stop<\/p>\n

[root]# service vncserver status
\nXvnc (pid 4370 4174) is running…
\n[root@]# service iptables stop
\niptables: Flushing firewall rules: [ OK ]
\niptables: Setting chains to policy ACCEPT: filter [ OK ]
\niptables: Unloading modules: [ OK ]<\/p>\n
